THANK YOU
To all of our volunteers, supporters, donors, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of our campaign.
This campaign was never about me. It was about you. It was about the city of Boston. It was about speaking truth to power.
And we couldn’t have gotten this far without you — without your time, without your financial support, without your belief that we could make a difference.
We have changed Boston. No city election for the last 100 years focused attention on power, about how the power of the mayor can be abused or misused, or how politics itself can prevent us from achieving our potential as a city.
Some will say we lost because we talked too much about power. They’ll say we focused too much on the failings of government and “the system.”
Don’t believe it. We ran to change the system. We knew that as outsiders, we would not have the campaign funds, the patronage army, or control of the airwaves to compete on a level playing field.
This was always an unlikely candidacy. But that didn’t stop us from running, and it didn’t stop you from giving your all to this campaign.
Because I knew deep in my heart that it matters. And you gave me the confidence and the means to say it.
Renewing our city government will make a difference to the children who are stuck in underperforming schools. To families losing their homes. To able men with CORIs and no jobs. To taxpayers frustrated by inefficiency. To city workers who want to be judged on their merit.
This is just the beginning. You were there for it.
Thank you.
Sam
