Asian American Action Fund Backs Sam Yoon

Boston City Council at Large Candidate receives AAA Fund endorsement

The Asian American Action Fund, the country’s largest Asian political action committee, announced its decision to back Sam Yoon in his race for Boston City Council. Yoon, the first Asian American to run for elected office in the City of Boston, received the endorsement because of his commitment to community development, education, public safety, and affordable housing.  The AAA fund’s endorsement is yet another reason to take note of Yoon’s campaign.  AAA Fund’s support brings an array of financial and technical assistance, and a nationwide network of political activists.  AAA Fund’s Board consists of Asian and Pacific Islander leaders throughout the country including Congressmen Mike Honda (D-CA), Robert Matsui (D-CA), David Wu (D-OR) and Governor Gary Locke (D-WA).

As Sam Yoon breaks new political ground in Boston, the AAA Fund broke with tradition by making Yoon its first municipal candidate endorsement ever.   “This endorsement is an incredible honor and a tremendous responsibility.  I look forward to representing all the people of Boston,” said Yoon.

Yoon is quickly becoming a political force in the City Council race, generating a large volunteer base and fundraising at a breathtaking pace.  The Asian community is uniting around the Yoon candidacy from Chinatown to Dorchester, from East Boston to Allston-Brighton.  Frank Chin, a Democratic leader in Chinatown for more than 40 years said “The Asian community is uniting around Sam, but his support is building throughout the communities of Boston, and I for one am excited.”
