Statement from Sam Yoon on the BPS Parent Rally

February 4, 2009

Wednesday night, hundreds of parents of public school students are expected to gather outside of the Boston School Department to protest education cuts for the upcoming budget. Boston City Councilor-at-Large Sam Yoon, who has two children in Boston Public Schools, will attend the rally and has prepared the following statement:

“These parents are worried that their children will get short-changed in this next year. And so am I. As a parent of two children in Boston Public Schools, I feel the anxiety that the quality of my son and daughter’s education is dependent on the whims of the economy.”

“Make no mistake: I will do everything in my power to oppose cuts that will undermine our children’s education and their future.”
