Yoon to Begin Series of Town Hall Meetings in Mattapan
“Government Works Best When It Listens”
July 24, 2009
BOSTON – City Councilor-at-Large and mayoral candidate Sam Yoon will hold the first in a series of town hall meetings on Tuesday, July 28th in Mattapan.
“I deeply believe that government works best when it listens,” said Yoon. “Each part of the city has its unique circumstances and challenges. That’s why we are holding meeting in neighborhoods across the city- to talk with voters about their priorities and listen to their concerns.”
Yoon is the only candidate for mayor to hold open town hall meetings. He has also pledged to participate in all debates and forums.
“Running for mayor in the cradle of American democracy means taking our message to the people and sharing our vision for the next four years,” said Yoon. “This campaign is about finding opportunities to increase civic engagement and participation.”
Throughout his time in office, Yoon has worked to make City Hall more accessible to the public. Since he was elected to the City Council, he has held a series of interactive neighborhood meetings about the budget and conducted online surveys with thousands of Boston residents.
The first town hall meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 28th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Foley Senior Building Community Room, 249 River Street in Mattapan. For more information, please contact the Yoon campaign headquarters at (617) 825-0309.
